A Golden Nugget of TRUTH From Starbucks

The Way I See It My husband and I are coffee junkies, and we go to Starbucks quite a bit to get our daily fix. As you probably know, on the side of the cup is a collection of thoughts, opinions and expressions by random people called, “The Way I See It.” Mostly, I read lame quotes about the environment, tolerance, art, diversity, gay pride, feminism, or other anti-Christ rhetoric, but much to my surprise, I read this little golden nugget of TRUTH on my Starbucks coffee cup today:

The Way I See It #99

"Success in life is that your kids want to spend time with you once they've grown up."
-- Paul Orfalea
Founder of Kinko's and author of Copy This!

Of course, this not the only thing I would use to consider if my life were successful, but it certainly is near the top of the list!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This peaked my interest, so I decided to go online and search for any more nuggets of TRUTH that Starbucks might have to offer, and amongst all the tree-huggin', queer lovin', new-age propaganda, I found these good quotes:

The Way I See It #224

"Darwinism’s impact on traditional social values has not been as benign as its advocates would like us to believe. Despite the efforts of its modern defenders to distance themselves from its baleful social consequences, Darwinism’s connection with eugenics, abortion and racism is a matter of historical record. And the record is not pretty."
-- Dr. Jonathan Wells
Biologist and author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design.

The Way I See It #258

"Because true conservatives are pessimists, they are happier than liberals, for three reasons. First, pessimists are rarely surprised. Second, when they are wrong they are delighted to be so. Third, pessimists do not put their faith in princes – in government. They understand that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. Happiness is an activity; it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness."
-- George F. Will
Pulitzer Prize–winning author and columnist

Well, I suppose true conservatives have the ultimate hope of a secured eternity and salvation, but it's hard not to see the obvious nature of people and the world around us - which is completely perverse and evil!

What about you other coffee junkies out there? Have you found any good quotes on your coffee cups that you want to share?

  1. I especially agree with the statement about Darwinism.

  2. I totally agree with you on #99.

#224 is just ridiculous. There may be a record of people misunderstanding and therefore misusing evolutionary theory to justify hate, but it is not an inevitable consequence of the theory more than any other belief is. For example, religion has obviously fueled more destruction than all the sciences put together; although in this case the hate is more inherent in the belief, I think it's more a matter of people hating then twisting preexisting beliefs to justify it. And I'm sure evolution can explain this inborn urge for destruction quite well.

#258, and your comments about it, are rather silly too. You're happy because you think the world is perverse and evil? And this weird fantasy that you'll get to live happy forever while everyone else burns in hell, that's a GOOD thing? Here's an idea...how about working to make the world less perverse and evil. You know, on the off chance that it's the only world you've got. Doing good just because you think it'll get you a free pass into heaven isn't really doing good at all. Also, "fending for oneself" and seeing evil in everyone rarely leads to good in any sense.

  3. I found one:

"Insane, opinionated home-schooling wack jobs have far too much access to the public."

  4. Phronk - No, I'm not happy because I think the world is perverse and evil, I'm happy because I don't live in a delusional world and I see it for what it truly is - EVIL - but I do take comfort in knowing that the world won't always be like this!

It also doesn't make me happy to think of countless people burning in hell forever, which is why I have been working to make the world less perverse and evil. Take Maxime, for instance - if only one person comes to the knowledge of Truth through this dinky little blog, then Praise the Lord! Plus, now there is a brand new human being, her daughter Lili, who came into existence as a result and will grow up to love God - which is a really GOOD thing.

While you may not consider the efforts on my blog to be "good" - if you sincerely believed that sinful behavior would earn your fellow man a place in eternal damnation (like I believe), you would feel compelled out of love to warn them of their inevitable destruction, and offer hope of salvation.

I totally agree that doing good just because you think it'll get you a free pass into heaven isn't really doing good at all. No amount of good deeds in the world will earn you eternal salvation because we are saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ, not by our works. We should do good things just because it's the right thing to do, not because we want a reward.

Also, I don't necessarily agree with the "fending for oneself" part either. IMO - true happiness comes from serving others and not being selfish, but there is joy in working hard and not relying on government handouts to support your family, which is what I think the author meant by that statement. Outside this blog my kids and I volunteer at crisis pregnancy centers and nursing homes - trying to make a difference and reach out to those who are hurting or lonely.

But I have to admit that there is a part of me who will rejoice on judgment day when all the people out there who have been arrogantly shacking their fists at God will finally get the punishment they deserve. Would I rather see them repent and have eternal salvation - ABSOLUTELY! But if they choose to continue to spitefully live in rebellion and mock the Living God, then my heart won't be completely broken if I don't see them in heaven.

  5. Whether its religion, science or anything else humans will always kill each other. The difference is that natural selection is the act of nature in fact selecting. Nature selected dinosaurs for extinction for example. Yet evolutionary atheism fails to acknowledge that the act of one biological creature (human) killing another biological creature (human) is in fact nature selecting.

  6. Well, I'm glad we agree on some things Dani, even if it's for completely different reasons.

Highboy, I'm not sure if I understand your point. Yeah, humans have always killed each other (but I don't think they necessarily always will). And evolution explains that perfectly well; I don't think any experts in evolution fail to acknowledge that competition is part of natural selection. That's not endorsing it; evolution is descriptive, not prescriptive. Saying that the theory of evolution causes people to kill each other is like saying the theory of gravity causes people to jump off buildings.

  8. God didn't say the world is evil, he said we're sinners and sent his own child to die for those sins. He is forgiving. HE will judge and condemn, not you.
Gays are sinners, according to the Bible, but He also said disobediant children should be stoned to death. I'd rather have gay neighbors than bratty kids for neighbors!
